Social media ROI

When paying someone to look after social media activity for a business, either in-house or on a freelance basis, you will want to see a good ROI. You will want to see that your investment in social media is proving to be a success for your company.

How to…..host a Twitter Party

How to host a Twitter party

Ever seen a Twitter party and thought about doing your own?

Recently, I wrote an article on LinkedIN about how to go about hosting one, how to get tweeps to join in, and how much work is actually involved.

You can read it at How to Host a Terrific Twitter Party

How to get traffic from Pinterest without being on Pinterest

Pinterest tutorial

Pinterest is one of those social media sites you don’t need to be on to get traffic to your blog or website. Like on Facebook, anyone can visit your site, like what they see, and share it to their social networks. You don’t need to be on Facebook yourself for other people to share content from your site, although it does help.

A free following tool for Twitter

Follower Filter free unfollow tool

Recently, I’ve been looking for a good, free Twitter following tool to replace Tweepi. I love Tweepi and use it regularly for a couple of my own accounts. The problem with Tweepi for myself as a social media manager is you can’t just log in with Twitter – you have to register an account which includes an email address. You see, you can use log-in information from one social network to sign-up for another, meaning you don’t have dozens of different passwords to remember.

Business – Don’t be shy!

I have come up against a new thing this week – I was expanding the virtual network of one of my clients on LinkedIN when someone I had added messaged to say that they didn’t accept connection requests from people they don’t know. Fair enough I say. Is that’s what you want to do, then that’s your prerogative. As a social media manager, it’s not something I’ve come across before. Most people just either accept, or ignore your request.

East Yorkshire Business Expo 2014

On the 1st October I shall be attending the East Yorkshire Business Expo 2014 at the Mercure Grange Park Hotel, Willerby.

The expo opens at 10am and there will be over 100 local businesses exhibiting, with many more expected to be attending. I am aiming to be there for about 10am, to get my name down for the morning’s speed networking session. I hope to make some more local business contacts.

So if you see me about, please come and say hello.

Better English – #1: are we nearly their yet?

In social media, while there’s a fair chunk of people who either a) don’t care about your poor use of the English language, or b) don’t even notice, there’s also a fair chunk who do notice and do care.

Poor spelling and grammar will alienate people who do care and see improper use as unprofessional. Yes, you may still get the custom from those who don’t know or don’t care, but why not take a little more time to get those who do notice on board too?
